HeatMatrix in the News: Petroleum Technology Quarterly Magazine Q2 2019
Petroleum Technology Quarterly (PTQ), the magazine for refining, gas processing and petrochemicals, features an article in this quarter’s issue on the contribution that HeatMatrix can bring to making the industry more sustainable: ‘Flue gas heat recovery through the acid dew point’.
The production of gasoline and other oil derivatives is a highly energy-intensive process, in particular the distillation process steps. A significant amount of this energy is released to the atmosphere via the stack. Traditionally, recovery of heat from this flue gas has been problematic due to the presence of corrosive acids. The HeatMatrix technology now offers the oil refining industry the solution to improve their energy efficiency and reduce their CO2 footprint by recovering more waste heat. The novel HeatMatrix polymer-based technology has been installed in several full scale industrial settings under severe conditions and has proven to be acid resistant.
