Sonac
Heat recovery from Dryer
Sonac Loenen wanted to reduce the energy consumption of their production process. Analysis showed that the blood spray dryer step was a big contributer to overall gas consumption of the plant. Heat recovery was not tried before because of the fouling behavior of the product and the corrosive nature of the required CIP fluid.
HeatMatrix polymer APH
HeatMatrix designed, engineered and installed a polymer air preheater. The properties of the polymer ensure protection against corrosion and slow the build up of fouling components. The heat exchanger is equipped with an in-line cleaning system, allowing for easy cleaning in place with caustic during the plant cleaning cycle.
Additional energy recovery of 290kW
The system is now running for more than 5 years and is achieving the expected heat recovery of 290 kW. With the heat exchanger included in the regular CIP (cleaning in place) schedule, the customer does not experience corrosion or fouling problems.
