Aviko Rixona

Heat recovery from Steam boiler
Aviko Rixona is active in the potato processing industry and ambitious to reduce their CO2 footprint. Their steam boiler is co-fired with biogas. Due to the sulphur being present in the biogas, heat recovery on the flue gas of the boiler was deemed to be impossible due to corrosion issues.
HeatMatrix polymer APH
HeatMatrix designed, engineered and installed the polymer air preheater. The corrosion resistant properties of the polymer make it possible to cool the flue gas through the acid dew point. This enables further heat recovery on the steam boiler.
Flue gas temperature reduced to 80 °C
The temperature of the flue gas of the steam boiler was successfully reduced from 170 to 80 °C. Combustion air was heated from 15 to 120 °C. No corrosion issues were observed after installation of the heat exchanger, not even in the downstream carbon steel ducting and stack.
